We are eagerly waiting for permits. Since the hurricanes, our area has been inundated with permit applications, SDL’s, and inspections. All of the chaos has driven local municipalities to re-evaluate how things are done. Thankfully, this should mean that one of the hiccups we’re stuck on should be able to be moved on once we speak to the fire inspector. Thankful for the sprinkler guy, Mike, for informing us of H551.
We can’t wait to start knocking down the walls we don’t need and making the space exactly what we need, and what is required for the ADA. We’re going to have the best 2 bathrooms on the beach. It’s a weird flex, but a flex nonetheless. I’m thinking about getting a fold out changing table, too. We want it to be a family friendly kava bar/coffee shop.
I’ve been visualizing what it’s going to be like during our Grand Opening. Surrounded by the people who’ve been cheering us on, a lot of people who’ve known us for over a decade. People who I’ve met through the Treasure Island and South Pasadena City Council meetings. People I’ve met through St. Pete Girl Boss. That effervescent buzz when everyone is patiently holding their shell of kava (or other beverage if you don’t drink it), as every last person is served.
“Shells up!”
“BULA!”
When you all echo the cheers that means to long life and good health, there will be tears in my eyes as we stand amongst the community that has meant so much to us over the years.
We promise to lead with heart. We promise to always stay committed to the community, and growth. We will not be just another bar. We will be the place that you feel safe, loved, and celebrated, no matter what’s in your cup.
